Message rules

These rules apply to messages on free and paid candles.

Do not submit a message that:

• threatens a person or promotes violence;
• promotes hatred, hostility or discrimination against a person or group because of religion, belief or lack of belief, ethnicity, nationality, sex, sexual orientation, disability, illness or another protected characteristic;
• intentionally mocks or demeans religious beliefs, rites or their followers, or people without religious beliefs, to humiliate or offend them;
• harasses or targets a person with abuse, reveals another person's private information without a lawful basis, or otherwise violates applicable law or another person's rights.

Personal prayers, expressions of belief or non-belief, respectful discussion, questions and criticism are allowed.

Before you post

Only post text that you have the right to share. Do not impersonate someone else or include another person's identifying or sensitive information without an appropriate basis. Wishes about health or faith are welcome, but a public choice does not give you permission to disclose someone else's diagnosis or beliefs.

The author name is optional. Anyone who has the candle link can read the message while it remains available and can copy or share the link. If you choose public display, visitors can also read the message by clicking the candle while it burns. Do not use the message field for information you need to keep confidential.

No fixed period of message access through the candle link is guaranteed. Access may be restricted after review under these rules or applicable law. Once access ends, the link no longer reveals the message or optional author name.

Review and reports

A basic automatic check may reject a message before placement. We may restrict access after manual review if a message breaks these rules or applicable law. Paid placement does not exempt a message from these rules; any payment rights are governed by the purchase and refund terms and applicable law.

To report a message or ask us to reconsider a decision, write to help@templehope.com. Please include the candle link and explain your concern. We review reports manually in context, under these rules and applicable law. A report does not automatically remove a message. Restrictions do not remove statutory consumer or data-protection rights.
